
For a custom rotation angle, pick " Format Cell Alignment" (last one in text orientation dropdown).Note: if the row doesn't resize automatically, increase its height by dragging down its lower border on the left of your spreadsheet - or right-click in that area and choose " Row Height". By default, Excel 2010 rotates the cell's content 45 degrees. To display text at an angle, choose " Angle Counterclockwise" (easier to read), or " Angle Clockwise".The " Vertical Text" option keeps all letters horizontal, but stacks them vertically: this takes up more vertical space (spans more rows), but is also less legible, especially with a long header.To rotate text counter-clockwise as left header, pick " Rotate Text Up" instead - the difference:.You can also add a few spaces for padding. In Excel 2007 and later, the text will rotate. Now when you return to your spreadsheet, the text should be rotated. In this example, we've selected 90 Degrees for the Orientation. This value ranges from 90 degrees to -90 degrees for Orientation. Then set the number of degrees that you wish to rotate the text.

When the Format Cells window appears, select the Alignment tab.

To insert vertical text on the right of a column, type it normally, like this: Text in a cell can be rotated counterclockwise by entering a number between and in the Alignment. Right-click and then select 'Format Cells' from the popup menu.
